Teresa May Launches Her Campaign for Kelowna City Council

Longtime Kelowna entrepreneur, volunteer, and community leader Teresa May announces her candidacy for Kelowna City Council in the October 2026 election.

KELOWNA, B.C. — July 14, 2026 — Teresa May today announced her candidacy for Kelowna City Council in the October 2026 municipal election, launching a campaign focused on safe and welcoming neighbourhoods, attainable housing, a strong local economy, and support for seniors and families.

A lifelong entrepreneur, community leader, and volunteer, Teresa has spent decades investing in the people and future of Kelowna. She has built and managed a wide range of local businesses, worked as a teacher and published author, and given thousands of volunteer hours to organizations serving families, seniors, and residents facing hardship across the Okanagan.

“My vision is a Kelowna where families thrive, businesses succeed, neighbourhoods feel safe, and every generation has the opportunity to build a better future.”

— Teresa May

Teresa’s campaign centres on four priorities for Kelowna: safe and welcoming neighbourhoods with practical solutions for public safety, mental health, and homelessness; attainable, livable housing through thoughtful growth; a strong local economy that supports small business and good jobs; and transparent, accountable leadership that listens to residents.

An approach built on listening

Teresa believes the best solutions come from listening first, building relationships, and bringing people together rather than dividing them. Her approach reflects a simple philosophy shaped by decades of community service: give back, work hard, listen carefully, and leave your community better than you found it.
